Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP) and Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIF) are popular savings vehicles in Canada and can be one of the highest taxed assets in your estate. Naming us as a beneficiary of your RRSP/RRIF is a highly tax efficient and easy way to make a charitable legacy gift.

Naming us as a Beneficiary of Your RRSP/RRIF

You can make us a beneficiary of your RRSP/RRIF by naming either Tides Canada Foundation or Tides Canada Initiatives Society on the plan’s documents – simply advise the institution holding your RRSP/RRIF of the change. In doing so, the proceeds from your RRSP/RRIF bypass your estate (and probate taxes) and flow directly to us. In addition, your estate will receive a charitable tax receipt that may help offset taxes.

Here is some sample language to help you make us a beneficiary of your RRSP/RRIF.
