On Wednesday, April 4th, 2007, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, at the Vancouver Museum, Tides Canada Foundation welcomed Terry Tamminen for a reading and discussion on his newest book, ‘Lives Per Gallon: The True Cost of Our Oil Addiction’.

Terry Tamminen is California Governor Schwarzenegger’s environmental advisor and has previously been the head of the California Environmental Protection Agency, and a former state cabinet secretary. His book, "Lives Per Gallon: The True Cost of Our Oil Addiction" is an excellent read that offers a first hand, passionate, fact-packed overview of the undeniable evidence against Big Oil while calling for new energy policies to shift away from fossil fuel dependency and promote conservation.

Highlighted with numerous statistics, each chapter examines our fossil fuel dependency in real cost — not just through dollars and cents, but in compromised health resulting from exposure to toxic air pollution, environmental degradation, social injustice, and instability provoked by the pursuit of oil.

LIVES PER GALLON The True Cost of Our Oil Addiction

Terry’s new book, Lives Per Gallon, is an unblinking assessment of the true price of petroleum and a prescription for change. The choice is clear: continuing paying with our health, or kick our addiction and evolve beyond an oil-dependent economy. …More
