The Tides Canada Energy Initiative
Tides Canada delivers “uncommon solutions for the common good.” For more than a decade, we have worked to support, convene, and directly fund hundreds of organizations and initiatives, from neighborhood-scale programs to national organizations. With offices in Toronto and Vancouver, we are one of Canada’s most productive and respected change agents.
In 2010, recognizing the central role that energy will play in the future health, security, and prosperity of our economy and society, Tides Canada began dedicating staff and resources to energy solutions work.
Though we have been involved in energy for some time, this initiative represents a bold new direction for our organization. It is the first of a series of programs we are creating to proactively identify and focus attention on our nation’s most complex and challenging issues. We have a strong track record of success, and we enjoy support from multiple levels of government, First Nations, resource firms and other private-sector companies, academics, non-government organizations, and Canadian citizens.
Through our involvement in past conservation successes like the Great Bear Rainforest agreement, we’ve learned that great things can happen when different parties and interests sit down around the same table in an atmosphere of respectful dialogue. With our new energy initiative, we hope to bring this same proven approach to one of this century’s defining issues. We invite you to join and support the conversation.
