Halifax Initiative

The Halifax Initiative is a coalition of development, environment, faith-based, human rights, and labour organizations working for global economic democracy and justice. Canadian NGOs formed the Halifax Initiative in December 1994 to catalyse fundamental reform of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs), namely the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Today, the Halifax Initiative has established itself as the Canadian presence for public interest policy development and education on the IFIs.
