Did you know that donors with U.S.-sourced income can receive tax benefits for supporting your Canadian charity?
Tides Canada offers cross-border services that can expand your donor base and provide tax benefits to your donors with U.S.-sourced income. We facilitate U.S. donations to Canadian registered charities, in partnership with Tides Foundation in the U.S.
Here’s how it works:
- Donors with U.S.-sourced income can contribute to the Tides Canada Exchange Fund at Tides Foundation, a 501(c)(3) registered charity in the United States.
- Your donor requests that Tides Foundation make a grant recommendation to Tides Canada Foundation in support of your charity.
- Within three to six weeks of receiving the donation, Tides Foundation provides your donor an acknowledgment receipt that can be used for U.S. income tax purposes.
- Within four to six weeks, your charity receives a grant for the CDN dollar equivalent of the U.S. dollar gift.
U.S. institutions wishing to support your Canadian charity, including those that can only give to U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations, can also take advantage of this unique service.
