Do you have a favourite charity abroad you wish to support?
In partnership with Tides Foundation in the U.S., we offer Canadian donors tax-efficient international giving options, allowing you to recommend grants to causes in all the places you care about.
Make one-time gifts to U.S. and international charities
- If you are a resident of Canada, you can make one-time gifts to pre-qualified U.S. and international charities by donating to Tides Canada.
- Along with your donation, you request that we make a grant recommendation to Tides Foundation in the U.S. suggesting a grant go to the charity of your choice.
- On our recommendation, Tides Foundation will approve and disburse the grant to the charity. All grants are made in U.S. dollars based on the best exchange rate of the week prior to the recommendation to Tides Foundation.
- You receive a charitable donation receipt from Tides Canada for the full amount of your contribution.
All grant recommendations to U.S. and international charities must be $1,000 CAD or greater.
Set up a charitable giving fund to make ongoing gifts
To provide ongoing support to U.S. or international charities, you can set up a fund at Tides Canada and have us manage your international giving as well as your fundraising stewardship.
Support a charity through their fund at Tides Canada
Many U.S. and international charities and non-profits have charitable giving funds at Tides Canada. You can donate direct to any of these funds and receive a charitable donation receipt for the full amount of your contribution.
