Make one-time grant recommendations to pre-approved U.S. or international charities
Make regular ongoing gifts to pre-approved U.S. or international charities
Set-up International Giving Funds

One-time gifts to U.S. and international charities

If you are a resident of Canada, you can make one-time gifts to pre-approved U.S. and international charities by donating to Tides Canada.
Along with your donation, you request that we make a cross-border grant recommendation to Tides Foundation in the U.S. suggesting a grant go to the charity of your choice.
We carefully review your request to ensure it fits within our mission of social justice and environmental sustainability.
On our recommendation, Tides Foundation in the U.S. will consider the recommendation, approve, and disburse the grant to appropriate recipients. All grants are made in U.S. dollars based on the exchange rate of the day we make the recommendation to Tides Foundation.
You will receive a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of your contribution.

All cross-border grant recommendations to the Tides Foundation in the U.S. must be $1000 U.S. or greater.

A total of 5% of your gift is allocated to costs associated with the complexity of our international giving service.

On-going gifts to U.S. and international charities

A number of U.S. and Canadian charities have Charitable Giving Funds at Tides which Canadian donors can directly support. Canadian donors can donate directly to any of these funds and receive a charitable tax receipt for the full amount of the contribution.

Set up a Charitable Giving Fund

Donors who make ongoing gifts to U.S. or international charities and initiatives can set up a fund at Tides and have us manage your international giving. This is a streamlined and efficient way to support causes in all the places you care about.
