The Eisen Family explains…TunaHAKI who?
In December 2007, Toronto couple Rob and Leora Eisen and their two teenage daughters traveled to Tanzania on a family trip to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. As part of their journey, they were determined to “give back” in a meaningful way. They discovered the TunaHAKI Centre for Child Development.
They learned about TunaHAKI through word of mouth and decided this small centre in Moshi was the perfect place to spend five days volunteering. Rob, a dentist, gave the children their first ever dental checkups and discovered the children at the centre were learning arts and acrobatics in order to earn a living. Check out the TunaHAKI website to see how the centre works.
TunaHAKI provides housing, food, school fees and basic medical care.
The Eisen Family set up a fund at Tides Canada, and have since raised thousands of dollars via a beach Volleyball tournament..amongst other things. Get Involved TV was so impressed they featured the Eisen Family story on their site this month. Take a look!
