Celebrities And Energy Minister Rub Shoulders Tonight

Posted on Sep 25, 2009

Film and sports celebrities will be walking the green carpet tonight for the festival premier of The Age of Stupid.

A long list of TV Stars including Aaron Douglas from Battlestar Galactica and Cassidy Freeman of Smallville along with actors from Twilight and the L Word will join three hundred other guests to support the environmentally friendly event - even the Energy Minister Blair Lekstrom is scheduled to speak.

Tides Canada is co-sponsoring the event which screens tonight at Vancouver’s Fifth Avenue Cinemas.

The environmental messaging doesn’t stop at the film. From paperless invites to 100% green energy, Power Up Canada has stopped at nothing to make sure everything is safe for the environment, right down to the carpet itself.

The film has been described as a drama-documentary-animation hybrid set in the year 2055. It stars Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in a devastated world watching ‘archive’ footage from 2008, and asking why we didn’t stop climate change when we had the chance.

"So tightly constructed and dynamic you leave the cinema energised rather than terrified and depressed." Movietime. ABC Radio National.
