‘Miss February’ Nicole Rycroft Awarded Print Action Award
For the second year in a row Nicole Rycroft, of Markets Initiative, has been honored for her innovation in the printing industry.
At the Print Action Awards on February 13, Nicole was recognized as an environmental innovator for convincing the printing industry to produce a glossy magazine with wheat pulp.
Nicole Rycroft convinced Canadian Geographic to print their June 2008 edition on wheat straw glossy paper – not only turning heads in the environmental sector, but affording her the title of one of Canada’s environmental innovators.
The ‘Wheat Sheet’ was produced last year by a North American mill and the paper – which looks and feels like a high-grade magazine paper and marked the first time wheat straw waste was used in North American publishing.
