Moms Against Climate Change video goes viral

Posted on Nov 3, 2009

Tides Canada project ForestEthics Canada and grantee Environmental Defence have launched a unique online campaign and video called Moms Against Climate Change.

The viral campaign is spreading fast and has received attention in The Huffington Post who described it as one of the best videos they‘ve seen on climate change.

Project Director Merran Smith was motivated by her twin girls to deliver an interactive campaign that gives families the chance to post concern for their children’s future. The site hopes to send a direct message to Prime Minister Stephen Harper prior to his visit to Copenhagan in December.

"I have two-year-old twin girls of my own, and I understand what global warming could mean for them. It was with our kids in mind that we at ForestEthics worked with Environmental Defence to produce this video that I’m sharing with you today. Right now, it’s up to us to decide what the planet will look like in the future. Even if you don’t have kids, I’ll bet you know some. Please, watch this important video and share this with their families. Then, add your photo to the project."
