Bring Food Home – Connecting Ontario Farm and Food Networks
From March 4-6, 2010 in Kitchener, Ontario, food and farming leaders will come together from across the province to discuss their work on a broad range of food systems issues. Participants will come from diverse regions and sectors, including farmers, food enterprises, health promoters, community groups and government organizations.
The purpose of this gathering is to facilitate our learning and working together to create food systems that are healthy, just, accessible, culturally appropriate, financially viable and sustainable.
Sustain Ontario, a lead sponsor of the conference, is a Tides Canada project that works to:
- strengthen food and farming networks across the province.
- showcase food systems innovations and champions.
- press for policy reform by working on specific issues with food and farming leaders.
Conference highlights include a keynote by Joel Salatin from Polyface Farm, a day of new farmer training workshops, a Taste of Waterloo Region reception, and a policy and action planning session.
