Sun Reporter Says Goodman Is ‘On To Something’ By Joining Tides
Gordon Hamilton, the Vancouver sun’s forestry reporter, wrote in an article published on April 17, Sarah Goodman’s appointment to Vice President of Tides Canada comes at a time when both the environmental and business worlds are breaking down barriers.
He notes that Goodman once worked in the resource sector at a time when there was a high degree of polarization between industry and environmental organizations.
Goodman is quoted in the article as saying "To me, it’s a different time. Tides is much broader than being just an organization that happens to support environmental organizations…different groups from different points of view have to work together and I hope to be a constructive player in that."
Apart from simply noting the new appointment of the former resource executive, Hamilton goes on to write in his blog, in more candid terms, about the changing cultures of both the forestry industry and the environmntal movement in British Columbia, that a more collaborative model is emerging.
On his blog, Out On A Limb, he notes that while resource executives like Sarah Goodman are playing a new role in environmental change, eco groups are also changing their approach, no longer dressing in bear suits but moving into the board rooms.
Hamilton’s final note on his blog states simply, "Maybe Goodman is on to something.”
