Connecting people to place throughout the southern Great Bear Rainforest.
Sea to Cedar is dedicated to connecting people to place throughout the southern Great Bear Rainforest, in Gwawa’enuxw, Dzawada’enuxw, and Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis territories. Ecological relationships, and the communities they support, are the backbone of this region. We apply conservation science and support diverse cultural and economic initiatives to create positive, lasting change in the southern Great Bear Rainforest. Our current focus areas include the protection of bear populations and habitat, salmon conservation, and local youth initiatives.
As a coastal ecologist, Sea to Cedar is inspiring for me because it’s driven by a passion for coastal ecosystems and communities of the southern Great Bear Rainforest. It is a way to engage more broadly in place that has given me so much. Becoming a Tides Canada project allowed enormous organizational capacity, which ultimately gives Sea to Cedar more resources to put directly into our place-based initiatives.
In operating a family-run tourism outlet, we get to see our home with new eyes every day through the experiences of our guests. So many of the wonderful and generous people who visit us fall in love with our piece of the planet, and want to get more involved in its conservation. Becoming a project of Tides Canada allows more accessibility for those who want to deepen their connection to this place by getting involved with Sea to Cedar.
