Mirasol Project Fund
Established in 2006, the Mirasol Project is a non-profit organization named after a young girl, Mirasol, who with her brother, helps tend to 350 alpacas. This organization was formed between yarn distribution companies in Canada, Norway, the UK and the U.S. in collaboration with yarn producer Michell & Cia SA in Arequipa, Peru.
Diamond Yarn, a yarn distribution company in Canada, and Carina Black Inc., a Canadian manufacturer and retailer of luxury accessories, have partnered together to create the Mirasol Project Fund at Tides Canada Foundation. All parties involved with the Mirasol Project have a clear and simple goal — to improve the quality of lives of children living in the remote Andes highlands of the Puno region of Peru. By providing them the opportunity for education, these children can develop the skills required to move forward into a changing and challenging future while still maintaining local traditions.
Diamond Yarn is the largest importer and wholesale distributor of handknitting yarn in Canada. Diamond Yarn contributes a percentage of every sale of the Mirasol Yarn Collection directly to the Mirasol Project. For more information, please visit www.diamondyarn.com.
