Skeena Watershed Fund
In Summer of 2009, Ali Howard become the first person to swim the entire 610 km of the Skeena River. Her epic adventure captivated the nation and helped SWCC raise awareness for the need to protect the Sacred Headwaters. The documentary of this journey, Awakening the Skeena, has been screened at film festivals and public events across Canada and the United States.
Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition (SWCC) has established the Skeena Watershed Fund at Tides Canada Foundation for the purpose of supporting education, research and community building activities in the Sacred Headwaters & Skeena Watershed regions of BC. Tides Canada Foundation makes grants from this fund to Canadian registered charities whose work complements this purpose.
