Director, Strategic Programs

Orit Sarfaty serves as the Director of Strategic Programs. She oversees the Strategic Programs team and focuses on operations, fundraising, and program assessment and development.

Orit has a wide and impressive breadth of experience that span across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. Following an undergrad in Sociology (focus on Social Policy) at Harvard, she earned a Master’s in urban planning from the University of Washington (focused on smart growth, environmental justice, and market-based sustainability incentives). Her career includes grantmaking promoting environmental justice; new business, fund, and partnership development; financial analysis; project management; and extensive people management.

Orit is a natural leader, coming most recently from a position as the Executive Director of NIF Canadian Charitable Trust, a grantmaking organization focused on community-focused initiatives in environmental, economic, and social justice among newcomer and Indigenous populations. Prior to that, she worked at the Lord Cultural Resources where she led the strategy for the City of Chicago cultural plan, amongst other accomplishments.
