Sara Hsiao joined Tides Canada in August 2014. She supports regional program leads in Ontario, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba by assisting with grant administration, financial and contract management, event coordination, and planning and reporting.
Previously, Sara worked with the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada for five years, where she developed, implemented, and evaluated education, research and community-based conservation programs. She played important roles in the organization’s two largest conservation and development programs in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Before that, Sara interned with the Environment and Energy section of the former Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Washington, DC.
Sara has a BSc and a Master’s of Research, and has been published in Oryx—The International Journal of Conservation. Currently, she volunteers as a Purchasing Committee member of the West End Food Co-op in Toronto, where she is helping to establish the co-op’s policy for responsible food procurement.
