Vancouver, BC – Ross McMillan, President & CEO of Tides Canada, is pleased to announce the recent addition of two new members to the organization’s leadership team. Ms. Elissa Beckett has joined Tides Canada as Vice President, Philanthropy and Ms. Anne Marie Johnston has assumed the new role of Vice President, Information and Communications.
“We are delighted to welcome Elissa Beckett and Anne Marie Johnston to the Tides Canada family,” said McMillan. “Each of these accomplished leaders brings a wealth of sector and business knowledge as well as passion for social innovation and change. Their talents, skills, and experience will enrich our executive team and our work as an organization.”
Ms. Beckett previously served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research. She is the co-founder of Canada’s first certified Benefit Corporation – FlipGive, a web-based grassroots fundraising tool. Ms. Beckett also brings significant development experience from previous major gift fundraising work with WWF Canada. Recognized for her leadership in non-profit enterprise, Ms. Beckett developed and teaches “Entrepreneurial Fundraising” at Ryerson University. She also serves on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in Toronto.

An experienced and strategic leader in operations, human resources, and information technology, Ms. Anne Marie Johnston directed large-scale operational change initiatives for the Royal Bank of Canada, Vancity Savings and Credit Union, and British Columbia Institute of Technology. More recently, Ms. Johnston was the Managing Director of Development and Alumni Engagement Services at the University of British Columbia where she supported the institution’s $1.5 billion fundraising campaign. Ms. Johnston will oversee Tides Canada’s information systems, impact assessment, and communications.
