Hidden Harvest Ottawa

Providing the opportunity, education, infrastructure and means for people to access the edible fruit and nut trees around them.

In Ottawa, countless fruit and nut trees go unharvested, yet 42,000 people access food banks each month. Hidden Harvest Ottawa bridges the gap.

Fruit and nuts that would otherwise go to waste on public and private property are rescued by connecting the tree owners with volunteer harvesters. The bounty is shared with the owners, volunteers, and those in need in the community.

Hidden Harvest Ottawa provides the opportunity, education, infrastructure, and means for people to access the edible fruit and nut trees around them. By removing challenges to access this low-hanging fruit, our volunteers are increasing food sovereignty, addressing climate change, preventing food waste, and evolving our culture to be a food-tree friendly city.

We want to see all fruit and nuts be valued, picked, and shared.
