Great Bear Education and Research (formerly Pacific Wild Initiative) carries out research and education-based endeavours on BC’s central coast.

We work with a diverse array of communities, First Nations, groups and individuals on programs that elevate awareness of wildlife and habitat issues in this region.

Our current projects include Great Bear LIVE, a non-invasive research and education project utilizing wireless remote cameras to livestream high quality wildlife video from remote locations and the Great Bear Sea Hydrophone Network, a collaborative effort with the Heiltsuk First Nation to monitor marine mammals and anthropogenic noise on the central coast.
